Myrcene
Myrcene is one of the most common terpenes in nature. Mango, hops, bay, thyme, lemongrass and basil all contain it, which is why those plants share a warm, earthy sweetness.
What it adds to a blend
Myrcene is the weight in a profile. Limonene lifts a blend and myrcene settles it. When a mix has become too sharp, this is usually the terpene that fixes it.
It appears in the essential oil of a great many species, which makes it one of the terpenes you are most likely to meet in botanical extracts.
